About the Role
The Senior Merchandiser plays a leading role in driving product development and execution for Rockhill Asia’s product range. This role requires a proven track record in relevant industry (Handicraft, Furniture, Garment, Footwear, etc.) merchandising, sourcing, and commercialization - taking products from concept to customer-ready while balancing cost, quality, and timing. The ideal candidate brings strong supplier management, analytical, and cross-functional coordination skills, along with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Category Strategy Development
Lead product strategy within assigned furniture categories, ensuring the mix aligns with customer needs, design trends, and margin goals.
Manage end-to-end product lifecycle: concept development, sampling, costing, approval, production.
Identify cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities without compromising quality or design intent.
Product Development & Technical Execution
Translate design briefs into manufacturable product specifications suitable for mass production.
Review samples, artwork, and construction details to ensure feasibility, compliance, and retail readiness.
Work closely with factories and technical departments on material selection, finishing, packaging, and technical improvements.
Ensure all packaging, labeling, and testing meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Manage supplier relationships, lead negotiations, and ensure adherence to quality, lead time, and cost targets.
Collaborate closely with QA, Technical department, Order Panning Team, Procurement team, QC to maintain smooth order execution.
Monitor order progress, troubleshoot issues, and escalate risks or delays promptly.
Proactively call for supplier visits and arrange call/meetings with related stakeholders.
Factories visit on a regular basis.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead various departments on project management, SOP clarification and enhancement, supplier communication, and order tracking systems.
Coordinate with Project Lead to deliver key milestones and ensure team goal alignment.
Share best practices and train peers on efficiency tools and data reporting.
Requirements
Our Ideal Candidate
Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, English, Engineering or related field.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in merchandising, sourcing, or product development, ideally within Handicraft, Furniture, Garment or Footwear categories.
Proficiency both English and Vietnamese.
Proven success managing suppliers, costing, and commercialization in manufacturing environments.
Strong understanding of furniture construction, materials, finishing, and quality standards.
Experience coordinating between design, engineering, and production teams.
Excellent project management, analytical, and negotiation skills.
Proficient in Excel and order management system
Our Interview Process
Application Screening: Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a brief phone interview with HR Department.
Technical & Personality Assessment (approx. 45 minutes): A scenario-based test assessing product judgment, commercial thinking, and execution under real merchandising constraints. Some questions are intentionally ambiguous to evaluate reasoning and decision-making. AI tools are allowed, but you must be able to explain your answers.
Team Interview: Online discussion with the Merchandise Team Lead.
Final Interview: In-person meeting with the Board of Directors.
Timeline: 7–10 working days
